Pseudomyxoma Clinic Hampshire

Seek specialist help with a Pseudomyxoma clinic in Hampshire

Chances are you’ve heard of Pseudomyxoma, or have been diagnosed of it, but for those that haven’t; let’s give a brief summary.

Pseudomyxoma is a rare disease characterized by the presence of mucin in the abdominal/peritoneal cavity. Often referred to as a ‘borderline malignant’ condition, Pseudomyxoma spreads via the lymphatic system to the lymph nodes, and by the blood vessels, eventually reaching the liver, lungs, and brain.

Whilst it’s treatable, it’s wise to get it sorted ASAP, as if untreated; it will result in compression of the abdominal organs, making normal nutrition no longer possible.

At Basingstoke Colorectal we can give you the best possible treatment and aftercare when faced with Pseudomyxoma. We cover all elements of colorectal complaints and are a team made up of 6 consultants who each specialise in their own area.

We are proud to say that we are one of two National Pseudomyxoma Centres funded by the National Specialised Commissioning Group. What’s more, we are equally proud to say we have a low permanent stoma rate and a low mortality in private patients.
